Adoption Journal

next day's entry
Dear Journal,

Today Cyndi and I are taking off on our adoption journey.  It seems so long ago that we started this whole thing.

This adoption has been difficult all the way thru so far.  Hopefully things are going to go smoother from this point on.

Today we are leaving for Amsterdam.  We will spend two days in Amsterdam and then it is on to Kazakhstan.  We should be arriving in Kazakhstan sometime on Sunday and then we will be heading to the adoption city soon thereafter.

Unlike when we adopted Max, we are heading to Kazakhstan without a referral.  What this means is that we will be meeting lots of children that are available for adoption.  We will have a chance to interact and play with these children as well as review their medical histories.  After that we are hoping that one of these children will grab our heart.

At this point we have no idea how long we will be in Kazakhstan.  Our best guess is that I will be there for 3 or 4 weeks with Cyndi staying even longer.

Being away from Max for so long is going to be interesting.  We have been very worried on how Max is going to do without us for so long.  In reality I think it is going to be much harder on Cyndi and I then it is going to be on Max.

We know that Max is going to be well cared for and will have a great time spending time with his Grandparents, Aunts and Uncles and Cousins.  Hopefully he'll want to come back and live with us when we get home. ;-)

Max is hoping we adopt a little boy and that we name him Logan (his favorite X-Men character).  Cyndi and I remain open to either a boy or a girl.  We are hoping that we find a child that steals our hearts and makes our decision apparent.  Part of me is hoping that we find a little girl that can become a part of our lives, but we remain open to whatever fate has in store for us.
