| Dear Journal, Well we made it to Amsterdam!! Got into Amsterdam this morning. We are both very tired. Cyndi slept for a little bit on the plane and I didn't sleep at all. We took a train to Grand Central Station and then lugged all of our luggage to a hotel we booked at the airport. The hotel is pretty decent. We took about a 2 hour nap and decided to get up and try to adjust to the new time. Amsterdam looks alot like I remember it from my visit in 1986. Only it has alot more American influence. I remember in 1986 seeing one McDonalds. Now they seem to be as prevelant as they are in the U.S. Also lots of KFC's, Burger Kings etc. The one thing that hasn't changed is the smell of marijuana everywhere you go. We just visited the Van Gogh Museum. We kind of blew thru it pretty quick. We were excited to call home to talk to Max. Max seemed to be doing well. Very concerned with what present he will be getting when we get home. I asked him, "Won't having us home be present enough?". I'm guessing not. ;-) Tomorrow we are going to take a tour of the Anne Frank Museum. Tonight we will probably walk around the city and check out the Red Light District. Saturday it is on to Kazakhstan. Larry |
